Alignment

Ensuring your financial behavior supports the future you want to build.

Many financial struggles are not caused by a lack of information. They are caused by misalignment between intentions and actions. It is possible to understand what should be done financially while still behaving in ways that move money in a different direction.

The Alignment exercise in your workbook is designed to reveal whether your financial behavior supports the goals and priorities you have identified. When intentions and actions align, progress becomes consistent. When they do not align, progress feels difficult even when effort is being applied.

Alignment is not about perfection. It is about awareness and adjustment.

Research on Behavior and Financial Outcomes

Habits drive financial behavior.

Behavioral economics research shows that a large portion of financial decisions are habitual rather than deliberate, meaning patterns often determine outcomes more than intention.

Self-awareness improves behavior change.

Studies in behavioral psychology show that individuals who regularly evaluate their actions against their goals are more likely to adjust their behavior successfully.

Small consistent actions compound over time.

Financial behavior studies consistently show that long-term financial outcomes are the result of repeated daily choices rather than occasional large decisions.

Intentions Do Not Move Money

Goals describe where you want to go.

Behavior determines whether you actually get there.

Alignment is the process of making sure your daily actions support your stated financial goals.

Check Your Financial Alignment

Return to the Alignment exercise in your workbook and review the areas where your behavior may not match your financial intentions.

Which financial habits are currently supporting your goals, and which habits are pulling your money in a different direction?

What is one behavior you could adjust immediately that would bring your actions closer to your stated priorities?
